Here's the thing about going on vacation - you don't know how much you needed it, craved it, until you're there. Until your feet sink into the hot sand and your skin soaks up the rays of Vitamin D and your children's squeals of beachy happiness fill your head. You don't realize just how far down you've been until you feel the wind whipping through your hair as you four wheel down a beach in a muddy jeep you wish to hell was yours to keep. You can't see your tracks, where you've been, until you shift into the next gear and find something new.
Here's another thing about going on vacation - you have time to think. Time to sort things out. Time to consider closing down your little space on the Internet because it's not really moving you forward in any meaningful way. In fact, you realize it's a pretty self-serving way to spend time. You don't have anything mind shattering to say to the world. But maybe, if you start listening more, the world has some mind shattering messages of its own. You want to start listening more.
Here's the last thing about going on vacation - you eventually have to come home. But you come home with your mind and spirit in a new place. And you know what you need to do to keep them there.
Happy spring, peeps.

I find myself craving that same stillness and silence. Less fritter, more reflection.
I really want to do the beach vacation. Too far away and too expensive. Sounds great though.
Vacation is huge, I think. For us, it is a time to truly reconnect with one another. Studies actually show that families that vacation are stronger. I believe it.
So happy for you. Can't wait to hear all about it!
What's this about "closing down your little space on the internet"? You have me a little worried.
The beach sounds like a great vacation (we went for the visit museums till you drop kind of vacation, which was great, too) and you're right--you don't know how much you needed it till you're there (or until your body refuses to board the return plane/train).
"because it's not really moving you forward in any meaningful way."
Sometimes we need a vacation to figure out our paths.
And, I'm jealous - you got a jeep!
Vacations are soo important! So often, in our real lives we lose sight of our true selves, what makes us most happy, and why we love the people we call family. Vacations, done right, enable us to reconnect with all that we are and hope to be, however.
I'm glad you had a wonderful time.
Yes.
And Happy Spring to you, my friend. It's good to be in a listening place.
xoxo
I need a break, hopefully to California in August.
Sounds like a great mind, body and soul vacation. Welcome home
So true. I love being on vacation (doesn't matter where) waking up earlier than the rest of the family, finding coffee somewhere and just sitting and watching the locals, or reading something I've been wanting to read forever. I love feeling like there is nothing more pressing than taking that time for myself. A vacation sounds fantastic right about now! : ) Happy Spring to you too!
Vacation? What's that? Okay...I may not go anywhere mindblowing this summer, but I'm going to consider taking a break from thinking and that might be vacation enough.
The best part about the real, true start of vacation (feet in sand, for example) is that all of the packing is DONE. Such a nice quiet peace of mind then. And the best part about returning home - sleeping in my own bed. Ahhhh.
I need a vacation NOW!!!!!

Hope you had (are having?) a great time and that you'll tell us all about it. I always want to be on vacation.
We so need a vacation!! Time to reflect on not only where we are headed, but also what we are grateful for.
