Remember that?
Remember how all the pieces came together so effortlessly? The 6 year old happily boarding the school bus at 12:05 and the 2 year old requesting to take a nap?
Oh, let me relive that blissful afternoon for a moment longer...
Because the next day, the very next day, there were no naps to be had.
Or the day after that.
It seems he is still on Nap Strike today as well.
There is picketing. And signs. And I think I can hear chanting: "Yo Yo! Hey Hey! No sleeping TODAY!"
It seems my
I keep thinking it's all a bad dream, but since I'm sitting here pinching myself and flinching from the pain, I'm pretty sure that it's real.
Eh, I'm sure he's just messing with me. I mean, what 2 year old do YOU know who doesn't nap anymore?
On second thought, don't answer that.
I'm off to cross the picket lines and negotiate with the Nap Union. Hopefully we can reach an agreement soon.

Here's my approach to nap refusal: "I have things to do, and I get them done while you nap. If you don't want to nap, fine, but you have to stay in that bed so I can get stuff done." Or, there's always Cars movie. Or Benadryl. (I'm kidding!)
be strong - my kids napped until they went to kindergarten!! I napped everyday with them. Somehow knowing i was going to be sleeping too makes them go down easier. They still nap on the weekend if I need it - I mean if they need it!!
You jinxed yourself. Evertime I think I have made it over a hump and tell others "he is sleeping through the night the past two days" I find he makes a liar out of me. If I complain to others that I just can go on, or prepare for a rough night by heading to bed early myself... he sleeps through the night and need to be woken up in the morning. Go figure!
Prepare for a nappless day and they will probably sleep 3 hours.
Good luck.
Aww, I'm so sorry! Hopefully he'll get back to it - at least a little bit.
Liv seems to be on a no-nap strike, too. Yikes. I agree with Kristina. Movies every once in awhile work wonders for a little bit o' sanity.
(And now, why would you have to give up the Irish coffee, I ask you? ;)
Stay strong. Down back down. Don't give in to their demands. Those non-napping unions can be tough.
Stick to your guns, Momma. Like Kerry, my daughter napped nearly every day until Kindergarten and some days after starting that. I am a firm believer in a good nap making for a wonderfully content mommy. Good luck with those negotiations!
I am hoping your nap union is more understanding tham our union.
Shame on you for jinx-ing it!
Good luck!
Good luck...I have a picket line to cross as well;)
You may have to bring in George Clooney to help resolve it. If you do, call me in as well, I'm local.
RC has never been the sleeper HRH was. Oh, the pity. I'm with Kristina; introduce [tequila] quiet time.
If all else fails, I agree with the others...
It's time to institute some quiet time!
Oooh I hate nap strikes. Hopefully it's only a strike and not an indication of a career change to a napless child.
Ummmm yea, our union has not yet reached a deal here either. I'm just hoping it's one of those (albeit MANY) phases! I'm willing to negotiate ANYTHING for the nap.
Oh you make me laugh! We're over the nap at our house (except today because kids are home sick from school--and that's my rule. You stay home sick--you take nap. I LVOE that rule). Anyway, I'm with everyone else. Stay strong. What's generally good for mama is good for the child. :) And thanks for stopping by my blog--I'll be back as well!
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Really. I remember the day my nap passed, too. I sat on my stairs and cried... But don't give up the fight, 'cuz ya' never know, and the fat lady has to sing, and all that jazz.
I agree with pinto. When my kids stop napping - or should I say sleeping - we call it quiet time. On the bed. Quietly. Candy bribes help. I'm not opposed to Benadryl.
Oh, I'm sorry! I hate when the children lull me into a false sense of security.
Remind yourself about who's in charge. All four of mine napped until Kindergarten. Nobody had to sleep, but they did have to stay on their beds (with books or whatever). And guess what? Everybody slept--usually including me! Of course, this was in a pre-blogging world.
Break the union!
Ugh. Nap strikes suck. My eldest hasn't napped since she was one. #2 is shaping up to be an excellent little napper, but sadly I still have his sister to contend with while he sleeps. Bye bye free-time!

my middle child, from birth...was on a nap strike! my 4 year old just started his!! thank goodness for max and ruby!! at least he'll sit and watch that for a bit!
We did the "quiet time" deal. No nap, then you rest. I'm not sure if two-yr-old is old enough to catch the logic, though. Good luck!
